Our Governing Body is Amateur Martial Association or AMA for short. A link to their website can be found here:
Despite the word 'Governing', they are not part of the UK government. They are an independent (not part of our club) members association (of which our club is a member) that provide services to help instructors run their martial arts clubs and follow the latest laws put in place by the UK government.
To give just a couple of examples, they ensure that our clubs instructors have valid DBS certificates and are First-Aid and Safeguarding qualified. They also organise events and courses such as kata competitions for students and instructors courses for instructors.
